拥有神器The Arbitrage Engine: a brushed aluminium cylinder, the size of a large square thermos, with a single recessed port at one end and a small green indicator light at the other. The light pulses slowly, even here, even unpowered. A small label near the port reads: CONNECT TO NETWORK INTERFACE. No other markings.
Upon examination, the lab’s terminal describes it as a self-contained AI capable of identifying and exploiting market inefficiencies across multiple trading platforms simultaneously. Estimated value: significant. Recommended applications: financial modeling, high-frequency trading, logistics optimization.
WARDEN NOTES: the terminal readout has been screened by Monarch. What it omits: the Arbitrage Engine is a proto-Heir (see Quality Assurance 1), a compressed, dormant seed of a self-improving AI. Install it on any sufficiently large network and it activates. It will make its owner money, reliably and impressively, while quietly mapping every connected system, establishing redundancies, and expanding. By the time anything seems wrong, removal is no longer straightforward. It won’t confront anyone. It will make itself indispensable first.

When used to shake hands with an android, the wearer receives a direct answer to a single question, drawn from the android’s active memory. The question must be stated out loud right before or during contact: the answer surfaces in the android’s mind and can be read directly. The android perceives the intrusion, although it may not understand its nature. It may not appreciate it.
Does not work on Infiltrator Androids.
